OK if you don't know yet, we're re-doing the youth room. There are several stages to this project. Cleaning and painting is step one and we're working on that now. What I want to chat about is what happens after that.
I'll start you out with some questions and ideas....I'm looking for your input. ANY IDEA is good. Even if it's really off the wall, I want to hear it. To add to the discussion just click on the COMMENTS at the bottom of this mini article. Then you have to click the OTHER button. That way it'll let you post, but we'll still be able to see who you are.....if you like anonymity, you could post as ANONYMOUS, but that's just silly. Let's have some dialogue right here!
What are we sitting on? If you missed the conversation tonight.....couches might not be the best idea for the future....but you could make your case for couches too!
Other than the new color of the walls, what kind of decorating should we do?
Lounge seems like a silly 60's name. It also infers that all we do is lay around and eat bonbons. Ideas for a name? I titled this Youth Room, but that's not absolute.
Ok there's a starting point. Go to it.

wow, no one's posted yet? i'll go first then...
my take on furniture: you have to have at least one or two couches in the youth lounge. i don't mind if you scrap the current ones for new ones, but ya gotta have at least one or two couches in there. surprisingly enough, people do sleep on the couches down there. (i've done it.) if you replace every couch in the youth lounge with a one-person chair, it's really gonna mess that up for everybody. and regardless of if there are couches in the library, you need it in the youth lounge (1) for more privacy from people walking through, (2) it's easier to block out the room for darkness, (3) it's quieter. and all in all, why wouldn't the youth lounge have a couch? you gotta have some multi-person furniture, or else you might as well be sitting in school desks.
aaron, i know you were talking about moving the ping-pong table into the youth lounge (or at least you were, some many months ago). my take on that... do we really have the room? the only plausible way i could see having the ping-pong table in the room is if it's in the middle of the room (bad idea), or if it's against one wall, with all the other chairs pushed forward... which is exactly what we had before we moved all the junk out. same kinda goes for any other game table (pool table, foosball, etc).
and what's wrong with the word "lounge?" i've been particularly fond of it. i mean, youth "room" sounds really bland, almost primative. i mean yeah, that's not a permanent title, but... "room"? that's all the creativity we got? my two cents is to stay with the classic "lounge". mostly because it wasn't "room".
that's my take on life. bear in mind, i'll be off to college within the next few months, so i won't get much use out of it. but also keep in mind, the high school sunday school class uses this room, so you might want to talk with some of them about it too. there's a mass of them who don't go to youth group who might like a say. that's my take on it all. enjoy!
i agree with steve that there should be at least one or two couches in the youth lounge. i also hadn't thought about the sunday school group. they should have a say, because that room has to have seating for all of them.
so, what days are we doing this?
has burt decided on any dates yet? let me know when he does so i can figure out if emily and i can be there.
another random thought... i think someone mentioned putting up some sort of dry-erase board or chalkboard on the wall, how about a corkboard to hang posters, flyers, photos, lost mittens, etc? again, another item you just might find somewhere else in the church.
Me too! i mean that i agree with Steve too! We need couches or else it isnt a lounge! in my perspective! i also like the corkboard and while i'm @ it, we need to update the pictures in Fellowship Hall. They are OLD!!!! and i also dont think we have room for the ping pong table. and i like youth loung...until we think of something better!and i like the way steve is considering the high school sunday school calss. good thinking. maybe ask them but dont just go on want they want. i mean, it is the youth room and we are the youth!!!!!!!! so thats my input, not that it means much or makes much sense, but yeah.
i agree with steve, not Jessica even if she agrees with steve!!
